Architectural Materials

There are some typical materials used in architecture. Let see some of them!

Wood is a good insulator. You can make a house only with wood. The inconvenient is that it is flammable.
Ceramics are clean and easy to clean. Perfect for toilets and kitchens.
Concrete can be used for making beams and it is made of cement, sand and water. We can use concrete to make a very strong structure. It is very hard.
Clay is used for bricks and it is a good insulator. It is used for making walls. Tiles are also made of clay. They are impermeable and don't let the water pass.
Plastic can be used as an electrical insulator or for pipes. It is impermeable.
Copper can be used for pipes. It is impermeable and hard. Spouts are made of copper.
Glass can be used for windows so we can use the light from the outside and save energy. It is transparent.
Silicon is a chemical element with the symbol Si and atomic number 14. It is a hard, brittle crystalline solid with a blue-grey metallic luster. It is used in solar panels.

European union, Iraq war, 11M and 2008 economical crisis

In short, the European Union – unlike the United States – is not a country (even though citizens of member states of the EU also hold European citizenship). It’s also not synonymous with Europe even if it’s often used that way. Not all countries that are in Europe (the continent) are member states – and some countries that are EU member states … aren’t even in Europe.

Most simply put, after the horrors of WWII, several countries decided that they wanted no more wars, hatred or bigotry and decided to cooperate more closely together, forming first the European Coal and Steel Community, and then the European Economic Community (EEC). In 1993, the European Union was finally created with the signing of the Maastricht Treaty. From 2005 onwards, the EU has expanded to include some countries from Eastern Europe and now includes 28 member states.

What is a force?

A force is a push or a pull. When the wind pushes a sailboat through the water, it is exerting a force. When gravity pulls an apple towards the ground, that is a force as well.

We are going to study eight type of forces. Name the forces and draw them. That will help you to understand them better.

Some of the forces that we will see we have already studied them, like the magnetic force or the gravity force. Here is more information

Drag force is the same as air resistance or fluid resistance.

It happens in ships as well.
