Natural: Matter and Materials

Unit 2: Social: Spanish Geography

Unit 2: Natural Science: Matter and Materials

Welcome to the world of Matter and Materials! 🌍

Everything around you—your toys, the food you eat, even the air you breathe—is made of matter. Matter is anything that has weight and takes up space. But there’s more to it! We’re going to learn how some things float while others sink, why some objects are hard or soft, and how materials help us build cool stuff like houses and spaceships! 🏠🚀

Get ready to discover the secrets of the stuff that makes up our world!

In Unit 2: Matter and Materials, we will explore the building blocks of everything around us! We learn that matter is anything that takes up space and has mass. Matter can be measured by mass and volume, and we explore properties like density, hardness, brittleness, elasticity, and buoyancy. We also will see how materials are used in the real world, like in building houses or making tools, based on these properties.

It’s important to keep your notebook neat and organized as you work through this unit! A well-kept notebook helps you remember details, stay focused, and makes studying easier—so take care of it, and you'll have a valuable resource for learning!

I hope you enjoy this unit!!!! 😎

Social Kahoots - Ecosystems

An ecosystem is a network of living things, such as plants, animals, and microorganisms, that interact with each other and with non-living elements like sunlight, water, soil, and air. These relationships create a balanced environment.

Tundra

For example, plants produce oxygen and food, which animals and other organisms need to survive. Animals may, in turn, help spread plant seeds or fertilize soil through their waste. Every part of an ecosystem has a role, and each organism depends on others to maintain the cycle of energy, food, and nutrients. This balance allows ecosystems, whether they are forests, deserts, oceans, or small ponds, to function and support various forms of life.
