Quick questions!

Hello!! This is a new section in which I'll ask you a couple of questions that have short answers. What you have to do is investigate a little bit and answer in your notebook writing the question and then in the comments.

You can add extra information if you like so we all learn, search on the web or even ask your family. The questions will be related with the topics that we are studying.


Here are the questions:

    Here are the answer to the questions.
    -What happen in 1085 in Toledo?
    In Toledo 1085 was made the siege of Toledo, the siege of Toledo. Siege is when a military action that it consists in prevent the entry to the enemy.
    -Where is the eremite of Cristo de la luz?
    the hermitage or church of Cristo de la Luz, formerly the Bab al- Mardum is a building in the Spanish city of Toledo, It was build in the year 999.

      Hello Raúl, rather than a siege, it was a surrender. The king that conquered Toledo in 1085 was Alfonso VI and there was no blood. Thanks!!😄

    Hi Simon in 1085 Alfonso VI conquered Toledo and the Ermita del Cristo de la Luz is in Toledo too and it was a mosque before.

      Thanks!! Very good!! If you go to Toledo you can visit this ermita which was a mosque (mezquita). A muslim mosque. Toledo was invaded by the muslims at the beginning of Al Andalus, and the visigoths living there (it was the capital) escaped to the north.😄

    1. What happened in 1085 un Toledo?
    In May 1085, the Conquest of Toledo
    King Alfonso VI de Leon took place.
    Victory that is considered one of
    most important military events in the world in the Late Middle Ages.

    2. Where is the hermitage of the Christ of Light?
    The hermitage of the Christ of Light id located in Toledo. Formerly Bab al-Mardum mosque. It was built in 999 (epoch of the Califate of Córdoba) as a small oratory. Then were added elements.
    Then Alfonso VI gave the building yo the knights of the Order of Saint John, who established a hermitage there.
    The name as a Christian Temple, comes from the substitution of the Crucified Christ who was placed when it was consecrated as a hermitage, by an image of the Virgin of Light later disappeared.
    Currently, it is a desacralized space.
